According to official sources for both Sony and Microsoft, the PS4 an Xbox One are soon set to receive the ability to play 3D Blu-ray media.

Late last week, Microsoft released a video preview of the August update for the Xbox One, which announced a slew of new features coming to the platform next month. Along with 3D Blu-ray playback, Xbox owners will receive a social media-like service providing the ability to “like” friends’ activities, and share game clips with select groups, as well as a personal feed of friends’ activities and interactions.

Not to be outdone, Sony’s PlayStation account tweeted today announcing the inclusion of 3D Blu-ray support in update 1.75 which is due for release next week. No further details have been released regarding other improvements, if any, to be included in the update.
